The Department of Entomology (https://ent.uga.edu) at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications for a tenure-track position (9 months) in row crop integrated pest management (IPM) with emphasis on cotton at the Assistant Professor rank. The position is budgeted at 65% research, 30% Extension, and 5% service. We seek candidates with expertise in IPM and experience and/or interest in sustainable production of row crops.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program supported by competitive external funding, to publish high impact research, and to effectively mentor graduate/undergraduate students. Applicants should have expertise in IPM theory and practice, which can include resistance management, applied toxicology, transgenic and molecular approaches, population genetics, landscape ecology, or precision agriculture (including remote sensing). Cooperative projects with the UGA Cotton Team and multistate collaborations are encouraged. Extension responsibilities will include communicating effectively with row crop producers, extension agents, and other stakeholders to translate research results using traditional and digital media. The successful candidate is expected to be active in departmental and university service, professional activities, and outreach.
Anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Entomology or related life sciences discipline, with a strong record of scholarly achievement, and excellent communication skills. Postdoctoral experience (one or more years) is preferred. The Department of Entomology includes 38 faculty, 65 graduate students, 25 undergraduate entomology majors, and 80 undergraduate applied biotechnology majors, with diverse interests from very applied to fundamental studies.
