Works closely with head superintendentand assists in managing daily course operations.Trains and supervises golf course personnel, assists in daily planning as well as short and long range golf course improvements.Supervises the control of fungi, weed and insect pests. Leads the staff and daily duties in the absence of the GCS. Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, greens and fairways. Maintenance practices for golf course turf, planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
