The Department of Entomology at Michigan State University invites applications for a full?time, 12 –month, fixed-term appointment with 70% outreach, 10% research, 10% teaching (non-academic) and 10% Other - producing publications, reports, and proposals. The position start date is anticipated to be January 1, 2025. Annual position renewal based on funding availability.
The Academic Specialist will serve in the role of an Associate for the South Asia Partnership (SAP) initiative directed by Dr. Karim Maredia, Director of International Programs in CANR. The Associate will work with Dr. Maredia and provide coordination support for the planning, implementation and advancement of research, education, training, outreach, and faculty and students exchanges programs with institutions in the South Asia region.
Role and Responsibilities
Develop a database of MSU faculty members and their areas of specialization in relation to CANR’s priority areas for collaborative programs with the South Asia region.
Assist in organizing Team meetings of the South Asia Partnership faculty.
Assist in identifying collaborative partners in South Asia for various programs and projects.
Assist in hosting collaborators from the South Asia region visiting MSU campus and other partner institutions.
Assist in student and faculty exchanges, internships, co-adviserships, and study abroad programs.
Facilitate technology transfer activities between MSU, South Asia and other regions of the world.
Assist in the development of joint publications, proceedings, training/education modules in areas of mutual interests (e.g., training programs, workshops, seminars, lecture series, etc.).
Assist in the establishment of linkages and collaborative programs with other regions of Asia, Africa and the world (e.g., India-Africa-MSU Partnership).
Assist in the development of annual progress reports and work plans for activities related to the South Asia Partnership.
Assist in the development of joint proposals and donor database for attracting external grants.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
