The Danforth Center’s Institute for International Crop Improvement (IICI) collaborates with international and local partner organizations to deliver crops with improved disease and pest resistance, yield, and nutritional content to places where people are in most need.  Dr. MacKenzie’s laboratory works on the development of plant transformation systems for orphan crops, especially legumes such as cowpea and chickpea, with a focus on introducing novel insect resistance traits.  As a Research Scientist in our team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative enabling tools and methods for achieving superior trait efficacy and reliable performance in field and post-harvest conditions.   For more information, visit our webpage on
