The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Biological Control of Insects Research in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a RESEARCH BIOLOGIST (COMPUTATIONAL BIOINFORMATIC)/MICROBIOLOGIST (POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE), GS-0401/0403-11, for a TWO-YEAR APPOINTMENT. Recent Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required. Salary is commensurate with experience ($69,107 - $89,835 per annum) plus benefits. Citizenship and permanent residency restrictions apply. The incumbent will develop a bioinformatic based strategic platform that leverages shotgun metagenome sequence data to create pan-genome assemblies. Knowledge of current methods used in bioinformatics dealing with shotgun metagenomic data, as well as molecular biology, genetics, and microbiology is highly desirable.
