MassBay's Biotech program- Center for Therapeutics and Genomics Training (CTGT) and Centerfor Biomanufacturing Education and Workforce Training (CBEWT), isseeking a highly motivated individual for a part-time laboratory staffposition. The Lab Staff will work directly under the supervision and directionof the Biotech Programs Director and Chair. This position will provide Biotechprogram coordination of the overall Biotech lab operation, including projectsrelated to Biotech Centers. The Lab staff work 18 hours a week.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Developing Center for Biomanufacturing Education and Workforce Training;
- Help maintain the Biotech equipment, and coordinate with vendors for the issues related to equipment operation, upgrades, and training;
- Coordinate with academic and industry Biotech partners to manage all mutual activities, such as communications and, meetings, activities (talks, lab tours, and visits);
- Assist in conducting the Biotech/Biomanufacturing research showcase/involvement fairs at the MassBay campus;
- Maintain the biotech laboratory, organizing, ordering, and cataloging samples;
- Set up laboratory equipment and monitor inventory and supplies;
- Monitor the level of Liquid nitrogen in the cell storage tank;
- Perform routine maintenance on and calibration of laboratory equipment;
- Maintain overall cleanliness of the workstations throughout the laboratory;
- Help perform biochemical methodologies, such as HPLC, buffer preparation, and project information, with knowledge of how to explore genomic data to provide novel insights throughout biology and medicine, current manufacturing practices, and bioprocessing;
- Perform gene silencing via siRNA/CRISPR, primer designing, RNA-seq library preparation, deep sequencing, assisting with the latest equipment such as Bioreactors, HPLC, Flow cytometers, FACS, PCR, ddPCR, Ion Chef, Arcturus, Cell analyzer, and manuals, viral-based drug delivery (Electroporation, CRISPR, Lentivirus), Potency assay, production and purification of recombinant proteins, Stem cell culture, Flow cytometry;
- Help maintain: Aseptic environments related to Biomanufacturing and Cell & Gene Therapy experiments, Cell line development, Cell culture expansion, Transfection, Production, and purification of Baculovirus, Adeno Associated Virus (AAV) -mediated transduction of CHO cells, HEK- 293 cells, and maintaining and amplifying insect cell culture at various scales.

Required Qualifications:
- AS degree in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Life Sciences;
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology;
- Basic laboratory skills in cell culture and DNA/RNA/Protein work are required;
- Effective communication and organization skills are required;
- Must be able and willing to learn and incorporate new concepts and technologies;
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new working environments.
PreferredQualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
- Experience working in a diverse environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
- Prior experience working in Biotechnology/Biomanufacturing lab;
- Knowledge of cellular and molecular biology, plus associated techniques.

Salary Range: $27 per hour
