Description of Work:
Positions are full-time, temporary positions (up to 6 months). Candidates interested in shorter positions (minimum of 3 months) are also encouraged to apply. Wages will be commensurate with experience. The positions are available starting between April 1 and May 22, 2023, and last until the re census is completed or approximately the first week of August 2023, whichever comes first. There can be some flexibility with start and end dates. Housing will be provided at The Nature Conservancy's Niobrara Valley Preserve (https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/niobrara-valley-preserve/), where the Niobrara plot is located. The Niobrara Valley Preserve is located in the valley of the Niobrara River, a Wild and Scenic River. This region is ecologically and bio-geographically important and includes forested canyons, sandhills prairie, and river floodplain habitats.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, or degree in progress with course work in plant ecology or related fields (e.g. biology, ecology, forestry), or equivalent experience in field work in relevant natural systems; ability to work outdoors under a range of conditions that include steep terrain and hot or cold weather, biting insects, bison, and wild animals; proficiency with data entry using Microsoft Excel; enthusiasm to learn new concepts and field and laboratory skills and to work in a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated interest in ecology; experience conducting field research; experience working in a field team; experience with plant identification, especially in temperate forests; experience conducting independent research; a valid driver's license.
