The San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center is located in Parlier, CA and is part of the Pacific West Area of the USDA Agricultural Research Service. Commodity Protection and Quality Research Unit scientists develop alternatives to replace methyl bromide postharvest use on horticultural products to meet quarantine and export needs, ensure quality maintenance, and reduce postharvest losses caused by senescence, pathogens and insect pests.
