Work with Director of Maintenance to assist with the management of the maintenance of the golf course, practice area and clubhouse facilities in order to maintain the highest standards of excellence for play and scenic pleasure.

Diagnose and solve technical golf course maintenance problems in cooperation with the superintendent.

Maintain security and cleanliness of golf course property and buildings including lightning protection system.

Assist the superintendent in preparing the operational budget and in analyzing the expense forecast.

Understand plant nutrition, plant pathology, entomology, weed control, pesticide laws and must be licensed for the application of pesticide chemicals.  Understand irrigation techniques and design.

Evaluate and determine priorities of course maintenance by course inspection and superintendent requests.

Organize and delegate daily work schedules as well as projected work. 

Direct the activities of the crew and trouble shoot personnel problems when possible.

Directly supervises employees.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements include:

Certification in pesticide management preferred.

Valid driver's license required.

Enrolled and working toward an online certificate in Turfgrass Management.

Associate's degree (A.A.) in Turfgrass management/golf course management or 4 year degree in horticulture or related field is preferred; three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must pass pre-employment drug test and be willing to submit to random testing throughout the term of employment.
