The U.S. tart cherry (Prunus cerasus) industry has an annual value of approximately $55 million produced on about 32,000 acres, and is one of the less labor-intensive and more mechanized of the temperate orchard crops grown in North America.  This mechanization provides opportunities for exploring and implementing precision management, including mapping characteristics of the orchard and the underlying soil, and developing variable rate management for a wide range of inputs including irrigation, fertility, pruning and pest management.  A team of researchers from Utah State University (Plants Soils and Climate Department, and the Utah Water Research Laboratory) is seeking motivated and passionate graduate students at both the M.S. and PhD levels to research components of the imp
