Graduate Research Assistantships (MS/PhD) in Agroecology
Implementation Transition Account
Location: West Lafayette, Indiana
Type: Full Time
The Kaplan Lab (https://www.entm.purdue.edu/ecolab/) in the Department of Entomology at Purdue University (https://www.entm.purdue.edu/prospective-grads/index.html) is accepting applications for two graduate positions (either M.S. or PhD) to work on recently funded USDA projects. The first project focuses on the chemical ecology of the striped cucumber beetle (Acalymma vittatum), evaluating their olfactory responses to aggregation pheromones and plant volatiles in the field. The second project will assess how landscape and cropping system diversity affect pest outbreaks and the provisioning of ecosystem services (e.g., biocontrol, pollination) across the Midwestern US. Both positions are fully funded as Research Assistantships and come with a graduate stipend, tuition waver, and associated benefits.
Qualifications: Both positions entail substantial field research so candidates should be interested in working outdoors in agricultural settings with background/interests in insects, ecology, and/or plant sciences.
Preferred start date: January to August 2022
If interested, please email Ian Kaplan (email@example.com) with a statement of your research interests and a CV, including names and contact information for 3 references.
