One postdoctoral researcher position is available at the University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center in Homestead. The position requires a Ph.D. in entomology, acarology, biology, or a related field.
The successful applicant will join an exciting multi-disciplinary project that aims at developing IPM programs for invasive insect and mite pests plaguing ornamental crops and hemp. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting laboratory and field experiments. Additionally, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to publish the results in scientific journals and contribute to the extension program of the lab. The applicant must have fluency in English speaking and writing and a demonstrated ability to work independently and write scientific manuscripts. A demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required. Experience working with both insect and mite pests is looked upon favorably.
The successful applicant will work with Principal Investigator from UF TREC and USDA-ARS in identifying research priorities.
This is a 1-year position with reappointment being contingent on performance and availability of funds. The salary range is 50,000 - 55,000/year plus benefits depending on experience.
